One patty, two patties, three patties, more?

They say that you can’t overeat on protein. I experienced that today.

We’ve been in field and traveling for the past 5 days, and although I’ve stuck 100% to the Whole30 program, I’m sure there have been some hidden things in what I’ve eaten that aren’t totally on program (although I have actively tried to avoid it and annoyed my servers everywhere!). Today I was moderating until almost 10pm, and had not had enough protein earlier in the day (one egg and too many berries for breakfast, and a taco salad with a little chicken for lunch). I was ravenous.

I still had a 90 minute drive to get home, but couldn’t wait that long to eat, so I stopped by a Wendy’s (the best of a bunch of poor options) and got a triple hamburger (patties only) with lettuce, tomato, and onion. I couldn’t eat all of it. Now, granted, it didn’t taste awesome, but I was so hungry I had thought I’d be able to wolf it down. Instead, I ate about two patties and was stuffed. Talk about being surprised! But that is great. If I’d grabbed something carb-heavy, I would have easily eaten it all.

Today’s food:

Breakfast: scrambled egg with nutritional yeast, big bowl strawberries and blackberries with coconut flakes

Lunch: taco salad (lettuce, chicken, jalapenos, guacamole, salsa), almonds

Dinner: Wendy’s double hamburger (patties, tomato, lettuce, onion)
